This is typical of Lawrence's pastel all of which date to pre 1790 and which tend to measure the same size. His usual inscription on the reverse is barely legible: `Be pleased to keep from the damp and the sun.'

Anne Bloxham (1766-1835) was the artist's sister. She married???/
